Barber Courses for Beginners
Barbers provide a wide variety of services including haircuts for men and women, beard trims and shaving. Many now also offer a wider range of grooming services including manicures, pedicures, waxing, eyebrow threading and ear cleaning. The introductory level 2 diploma in Barbering at Rutledge gives you all the key skills you need to become a junior barber including how to shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp as well as basic techniques to cut, dry and finish men’s hair. Being able to chat to your customers is a key learning point including how to give them the best advice on the style that would most suit them and how to look after their hair.
The Art of Styling
A haircut isn’t just a haircut; it’s a style statement. Whether your customer is
looking for something classic, trendy, or edgy, there’s a hairstyle
out there for every personality type. While there are two main styles of haircuts: short and long, there are a wide variety of both types of cut to master. Short haircuts have historically been more popular with men because they tend to be easier to maintain, but there are now plenty of men opting to have longer hair styles and more statement short cuts.
If you’re new to styling, both the level 2 and 3 diplomas will help you to develop your barbering skills. At level 2 you will learn all the basic techniques as well as a range of optional topics which you can choose to undertaken such as how to relax hair. For those who are already working the sector and are ready to progress to more advanced techniques, the level 3 course helps learners to use their initiative and widen their creativity. Topics include the best approach for all different hair types, how to colour and lighten men’s hair and how to create patterns in hair.
The Art of Cutting Men's Facial Hair
Barbers have always been experts at looking after and providing advice on facial hair. The Rutledge level 3 diploma course include shaving services and training to provide advice to men on different styles of facial hair. At this level, trainee barbers will develop their learning in how to shape facial hair in a range of styles and to use their creativity to provide their clients with consultative services about options to suit them.
